AC Milan are actively preparing for the new season and are looking to strengthen their squad. Brazilian player Emerson Royal has become one of Milan’s primary transfer targets.
According to football market reports, Milan have submitted an offer to Tottenham Hotspur that includes a fixed transfer fee and variable bonuses, totaling slightly over 10 million euros. However, Tottenham rejected this offer as they expect to receive at least 20 million euros in transfer fees since Emerson’s contract runs until June 30, 2026.
Despite the significant difference in valuation, Milan have not given up and continue to negotiate with both Emerson and Tottenham, with both sides working to close the gap.
Milan have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement with Emerson and his agent, planning to offer the Brazilian full-back a five-year contract (or four years with an option for an additional year), with an annual salary of 3 million euros.
If Emerson joins Milan, it could affect Florenzi’s standing within the team, but the latter is not eager to leave unless he receives an attractive offer. Florenzi’s contract expires on June 30, 2025, and he also earns an annual salary of 3 million euros.
To raise funds for Emerson Royal’s transfer, Milan may need to sell some players. Adli is a potential sale target, with clubs from Saudi Arabia expressing interest. Milan hope to secure between 15 and 20 million euros from Adli’s transfer.
It’s worth noting that Emerson is a non-EU player, which means Milan would need to use one of their two non-EU player slots to sign him.
Emerson is keen to join Milan and, a few weeks ago, during an interview with Brazilian media, said: “I want to play regularly rather than sit on the bench. I’ve always been professional, but I also told the Spurs manager my thoughts; I want more playing time, or I’ll consider other options. For any Brazilian, Milan is a prestigious club.”
