After being informed he could not join Juventus’s pre-season training camp, Mattia De Sciglio angrily hit back at the club, emphasizing that “this was a completely unilateral decision by the club.”
The entire Juventus squad flew to Nuremberg, Germany on July 20th. New coach Thiago Motta is set to begin pre-season training, preparing for the new season. De Sciglio was not on the list of players flying to Nuremberg. The official explanation from Juventus was that De Sciglio’s physical condition was not sufficient for him to participate in the training camp. However, this explanation infuriated De Sciglio, who posted on his personal social media account to set the record straight.
In his post, De Sciglio wrote: “In recent hours, I have heard some inaccurate information about me. I want to clarify that I feel good and have no physical issues. Despite reports by Sky Sports and other media outlets, I want to say that my non-inclusion was purely a unilateral decision by the club. I ask journalists to verify the accuracy of news before publishing incorrect information.”
De Sciglio joined Juventus in 2017 for a transfer fee of 12 million euros. His contract with Juventus expires in the summer of 2025. During Allegri’s tenure as Juventus coach, De Sciglio was an important member of the team.
