26 Different Players Score First 26 Goals in Euro History, Setting a New Record

In the first round of Group E matches at the Euros, Belgium faced Slovakia. Skriniar capitalized on an opponent’s error to give Slovakia an early lead with a goal in the 6th minute and 5 seconds.

This strike marked the fastest goal in Slovakia’s international tournament history. Additionally, Skriniar’s goal created another record: for the first time in the entire history of the Euros, 26 distinct players have scored the first 26 goals of a single edition (in 2016, 25 players scored the first 25 goals).

For Belgium, trailing 0-1 is not an encouraging position. They have been behind 0-1 nine times in Euro history, and only once have they managed to come back and win, which was against Denmark in the 2020 Euros with a 2-1 victory (one draw, seven losses).
