The latest from German Sky Sports is that 21-year-old Dutch international, Xavi Simons, has decided to remain on loan at RB Leipzig for another year.
Last season, Simons joined Leipzig on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. Over the course of the season, he made 43 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig, contributing 10 goals and 15 assists. At this year’s European Championship, Simons also put in impressive performances, making six appearances for the Netherlands national team, scoring one goal and providing three assists, helping the team reach the semi-finals. His only goal of the tournament came in the semi-final match against England, opening the scoring for his team.
Simons’ excellent form attracted interest from several clubs, including Bayern Munich. However, according to German Sky Sports, the 21-year-old player has turned down Bayern’s interest, and currently, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig are finalizing the terms of an extended loan deal.
Following Simons’ rejection, Bayern Munich is now stepping up its efforts to sign young French star, Désiré Doué, who is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain.
