August 6th – According to the veteran Italian motorsport publication Autosprint, Aston Martin has finally signed F1 design legend Adrian Newey, with the official announcement expected in early September. Lawrence Stroll offered a four-year deal worth $100 million and also granted Newey decision-making powers.
Ferrari began courting Newey from last year’s Italian Grand Prix, with salary never being an issue. However, Newey sought some of the team principal’s decision-making rights, such as hiring new engineers, assigning roles, and accepting technical partnerships. Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur did not agree to these proposals.
