According to Spain’s Marca, on August 4th, Ancelotti held his second press conference within 24 hours to discuss Jude Bellingham, the lineup for the European Super Cup, and targets for the new season.
After a preseason defeat against Barcelona, the Italian coach spoke to the media, analyzing the match and Real Madrid’s current situation. Then, at the last stop of their summer tour in Charlotte, U.S., Ancelotti once again addressed local media as stipulated in his contract – it was also the penultimate media appearance before the match against Chelsea.
Ancelotti expressed his displeasure with Bellingham during the press conference, stating, “I’ve been in touch with Bellingham, but I got a bit angry yesterday because he didn’t answer my call. I had Vinicius call him, and he answered right away. Vinicius handed me the phone, and then I talked to Bellingham.”
Ancelotti also provided an update on seven players who did not participate in the U.S. summer training. These players include Valverde, Carvajal, Tchouaméni, Mbappé, Camavinga, Mendy, and Bellingham, who did not join the team after participating in the Euros or Copa América. However, they all need to follow detailed individual training plans and will join the squad at Real Madrid City on August 7th when the rest of the team returns from the U.S.
Ancelotti stated that the absence of players is not a problem, and several of them are expected to start in the European Super Cup final against Atalanta on August 14th. “I think the players who won the Champions League should play in the final. The only two missing will be Nacho and Kroos…”
These two players have left the team, and their positions will be filled by others. Ancelotti stated that the European Super Cup “rightfully” belongs to the players who won the fifteenth Champions League title. “We have a strong enough squad to handle all competitions. If the schedule requires it, we have the depth to compete in every tournament.” Confidently, Ancelotti stated that in the new season, he will lead the team to compete for seven titles.
