Foreign Media: Barcelona B Coach Accepts Invitation to Serve as Assistant Coach for the Mexican National Team in the Next World Cup

According to multiple foreign media reports, Rafa Márquez, coach of Barcelona B, has accepted an invitation from the Mexican Football Federation and will serve as assistant coach under Aguirre for the North American World Cup.

The 45-year-old Márquez retired from playing at Atlas in 2018 and subsequently served as the club’s sporting director. In the summer of 2022, he took over as coach of Barcelona B and has since led the team in 82 matches with a record of 40 wins, 21 draws, and 21 losses.

Before Barcelona officially announced Flick as head coach, Márquez was also considered one of the top candidates for the new head coaching position of the Barcelona first team.
