On July 31, Premier League pundit Stuart Robson stated that Julián Álvarez should leave Manchester City, as he lacks the impact to influence games.
Robson believes that Álvarez should not continue at Manchester City: “I think he should leave. He is indeed a very good player and has won many trophies. However, what I would say is that Álvarez lacks the ability to influence games. Hypothetically, if Manchester City did not have Haaland, would Álvarez be able to carry the attacking mantle for Manchester City? Would he help them become the best team in the Premier League and Europe? I believe the answer is no. I have never seen him demonstrate such capabilities, and I am disappointed by his performances.”
Robson further commented on Álvarez’s marginal role at Manchester City: “When he comes off the bench or when there are injury crises in the team, he performs well. But when Pep Guardiola selects his strongest eleven, Álvarez is definitely not among them.”
