On August 2, according to reports from the Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde recently discussed the transfer rumors surrounding key player Nico Williams.
Valverde stated: “The transfer market (summer window) is open for another month, and like the rest of the team, we will strive to improve our squad.”
Ernesto Valverde did not want to delve into discussions about Nico Williams’ future. When asked if he felt calm about the possibility of the player leaving, he said: “I’m as calm as I was before. I know that the market closes on August 31. There’s still a month to go.”
Valverde also commented: “We already know how good Nico is. We’ll have to wait and see because there will be new news every day, and we can’t let these stories dictate our actions; we just have to take things as they come. We shouldn’t lose our balance because of media reports.”
Additionally, the Athletic Bilbao head coach confirmed that Nico Williams, Unai Núñez Vivian, and Unai Simón are on holiday until August 12, but he added: “I don’t know whether they will come back early, it’s one of the possibilities.”
