The 25-year-old Valencia goalkeeper also announced his transfer news on social media and posted a statement to fans.

“Dear fans: Whenever I start talking about Valencia and this club, I must express my gratitude. Thank you for your constant support and affection since I joined the club three years ago. Valencia not only changed my football career, it changed my life.

I am forever grateful to this club. We all know what challenges the new year will bring for the team, and how important this period of change is for the club. Therefore, I have decided to stay at Valencia for another year and do my utmost to help the club achieve its goals.”

Tonight, Valencia will travel to San Mames Stadium to face Athletic Bilbao. In the first two rounds of the league this season, Valencia has lost both games, conceding five goals, and currently sits at the bottom of the league table. It is understood that in this transfer deal, it was Mamardashvili who requested to stay for an additional year, ultimately leading to the conclusion of these negotiations.
