Saka Dissatisfied with Referee's Double Standards: Pedro Kicks the Ball Far and Nothing Happens, Rice Gets Sent Off for Just a Flick

In the third round of the Premier League, Rice was shown a red card, and ten-man Arsenal was held to a 1-1 draw at home by Brighton. After the game, Arsenal forward Saka spoke to the media.

Saka said, “We can look at this game from two perspectives; we had chances to win, but it is indeed very difficult to play a man down against Brighton.”

“Rice’s sending off, I feel, was a bit harsh on us. In the first half, João Pedro kicked the ball halfway across the field and nothing happened, whereas Rice got sent off for just touching the ball slightly. We just hope that the referees maintain consistency. Of course, what has happened has happened, and I don’t want to blame the whole game on the referee because we still had chances to win. Our early season performance has been good, today is disappointing, but the season is long.”

Talking about Sterling’s signing, Saka added, “It’s a great signing for us, I’m really happy he’s joined us. I believe he will do well for us.”
