Korean Table Tennis Coach: Unfavorable Draw Led to Our Downfall, We Always Lose to China Over the Years

At 16:00 on August 7th, in the men’s team table tennis quarterfinals, China defeated South Korea 3-0 and advanced to the semifinals. Joo Se-hyuk, the head coach of the South Korean team, gave an interview.

Joo Se-hyuk said, “It has been over 20 years, and every time we face China in a match, we always lose. Matches against the Chinese team are always a challenge for our players, it’s truly remarkable. My players competed with the heart of representing the national team; they never thought of giving up and did their utmost.”

Joo Se-hyuk also expressed his dissatisfaction with the draw results, saying, “I am very disappointed with the draw results; if we had drawn another opponent, we wouldn’t have ended up like this. Of course, if we want to win the gold medal, we must defeat the Chinese team. However, when I saw Sweden defeat Germany and enter the semifinals yesterday, I was really angry.”
