Zheng Qinwen: Today, I felt a bit nervous, and my serve wasn’t ideal. My previous match ended very late (at two in the morning local time), so I couldn’t train properly yesterday because I didn’t get enough sleep and therefore had little energy. However, today I felt better able to return her shots compared to last time, just failing to capitalize on some key points. Although the score reflects this, I believe I should have done better.

Zheng Qinwen: I think next time we face each other, perhaps I should improve my consistency and play more relaxed. Because today, I entered the match with a lot of tension. Of course, she played aggressively but occasionally made mistakes. I remember there was a short ball at the beginning that I could have used to open up the angle. Still, I indeed felt better than the previous two times, even though those matches had closer scores. Today, it felt like it was at crucial moments. But it’s okay; that’s tennis.

【China Open】

Zheng Qinwen: I am very excited, especially as I hope to have more time to prepare, since my schedule has been tight since the Olympics. In fact, I am happy with my current results because I only had three days to prepare for the US Open and couldn’t complete all my normal training routines. I did my best, and although I could have done better today, I will forget this match after today and move forward. I will focus on the upcoming Chinese season, and I am delighted to be returning to compete in China again. Last year, I played five consecutive matches at the Asian Games and was very tired when I arrived at the China Open, so I hope to have more time to prepare this year.
