Today, English football legend Harry Redknapp commented on Chelsea’s current situation in his personal column, stating that he believes Chelsea’s situation is currently very dire.
Redknapp wrote: “When Maresca took over Chelsea in the summer, the team was facing difficulties. His task is very arduous. The team performed poorly in several matches against champions of the top five leagues. The Chelsea I saw really wasn’t impressive. They were lucky to finish sixth last season.”
“When Maresca arrived, the dressing room was full of these big stars who tend to be very arrogant. I wonder if Maresca has the ability to handle such a situation. Even famous coaches like Pochettino and Potter couldn’t solve this problem previously. Last season, he led Leicester City to the Championship title despite a period of losing their way, but I still feel his level isn’t up to a club like Chelsea.”
“The constant change of managers at Chelsea baffles me. Look at Arteta, Guardiola, and Klopp; they have been the best managers in the Premier League in recent years. They’ve had enough time to think and implement their ideas. Even when they encountered problems, they received support from their clubs, but Chelsea lacks this kind of patience.”
