Soccer News: Indonesia to Include Several Naturalized Players in Squad; Aims to Reach Fourth Round

The Indonesian men’s national football team will face Saudi Arabia and Australia in the 18-team World Cup qualifiers in early September. According to a report by Soccer News, it is expected that the Indonesian national team will include 14 naturalized players who play in overseas leagues in their squad, with the final list anticipated to be announced soon.

Indonesia’s head coach, Shin Tae-yong, has already confirmed that he will call up 26 players for the 18-team qualifiers in September, including 14 who play in overseas leagues and are naturalized players.

The squad list is expected to be announced shortly, followed by the team gathering on August 29th to prepare for the matches against Saudi Arabia on September 6th and Australia on September 10th.

In the previous round of 36 teams, Indonesia successfully defeated Vietnam twice, surpassing them to advance as the second-place finisher in their group. Head coach Shin Tae-yong also mentioned in a previous interview that the team’s goal is to secure third or fourth place in this round of 18, thereby advancing to the fourth stage of Asian World Cup qualifiers and striving to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.
