L'Équipe Report: To Comply with Fair Play Regulations, Lyon Has Listed All Players for Sale

According to L’Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais is currently facing serious financial issues. Due to the strict financial regulations of the French Ligue 1, the club has had to adjust its financial situation. Lyon’s current predicament is similar to the difficulties previously faced by Bordeaux. It is reported that Lyon has had to list all of its players for sale.

Olympique Lyonnais, owing a significant debt to the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG), has had to resort to this extreme measure. The club’s owner, Jean-Michel Aulas, had promised to raise 100 million euros through player sales, but so far, only 24.25 million euros have been raised.

In terms of transfers, Lyon has invested 134.2 million euros, bringing in several players including Ndombele (28.5 million euros), Benrahma (14.4 million euros), Mangala (23.4 million euros), Baldé (6 million euros), Caleta-Car (3.5 million euros), Niakhaté (32 million euros), Michakitaretse (18.5 million euros), and Abner Vinicius (8 million euros).

Currently, Lyon has successfully sold only two players: Irish central defender, Jack O’Brien, who transferred to Everton for 19.5 million euros, and Skelly Alvelo, who joined Werder Bremen for 4.75 million euros.

According to L’Équipe, Lyon has decided to list all players for sale. They have informed the players about the situation, stating that regardless of their status and importance, they are all on the list for sale. Among them, Cherki may be the first to leave, expected to transfer to Fulham for 15 million euros.
