On August 21, according to Spanish media reports, UEFA’s 55 member associations will share a total of €935 million in rewards related to Euro 2024 over the next four years. Of this amount, €331 million will be distributed as participation bonuses for this edition of the European Championship to the respective national football associations, and an additional €240 million will be provided as compensation to clubs that release players for the tournament.

UEFA established this scheme back in 2004, with the goal of using the proceeds from the European Championship to support infrastructure development, youth training, women’s football, and refereeing at the various national associations, thereby promoting better development of football across Europe.

According to data provided by UEFA, a cumulative audience of 5.2 billion people watched the matches of this European Championship, with 4.5 billion of these viewers tuning in via digital media. A total of 2.7 million spectators attended matches in person, indicating the significant success of this edition of the European Championship.

To ensure the smooth running of the Euro 2024, UEFA specifically invested €32 million to safeguard the event.
