The British Daily Telegraph reports that Chelsea plans to restart negotiations with Atletico Madrid regarding the transfers of Conor Gallagher and Joao Felix.
The report states that Chelsea plans to engage in new rounds of talks with Atletico this weekend, hoping to break the deadlock on these two transfers. After the proposed transfer of Omolodion to Stamford Bridge fell through, Gallagher was forced to return to London this week, causing his transfer to Atletico to stall.
Atletico now needs to raise funds to complete the Gallagher deal. The La Liga powerhouse also hopes to recommend Felix to Chelsea, while Felix is also a target for Aston Villa. Felix wishes to rejoin Chelsea, where he previously spent half a season on loan. There are indications that Felix is prepared to adapt to the club’s wage structure, which means the prospects of Chelsea finalizing contract terms with him look promising, provided that Chelsea and Atletico can agree on the Portuguese player’s transfer fee.
On the other hand, Atletico coach Diego Simeone has assured Gallagher that he is very keen to sign this midfielder. Spanish sources still believe that a breakthrough in the transfer could be achieved.
The Daily Telegraph points out that Chelsea’s transfer team is currently very busy, negotiating these two deals with Atletico, while also aiming to reach an agreement with Napoli to sign striker Victor Osimhen, with the Italian side hoping to sign Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
This matter was confirmed by the coach. In the press conference before the match against Manchester City, Maresca stated: “Conor has returned to training but not with the first team. He is trying to find a (transfer) solution; let’s see what happens, hopefully, it will make both Conor and the club happy. As for Felix and Osimhen, they are not our players yet, so it would be inappropriate to talk about players from Atletico or Napoli. The club is fully aware of my thoughts and knows what needs to be done. Before the summer window closes, we will be able to bring in some players.”
