Rafa Mir, Spanish Player, Transferred from Police Station to Court for Hearing

According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, on Wednesday, Valencia striker Rafa Mir was escorted out of the Civil Guard detention center to be taken to court for a hearing. Previously, Mir and his friend were arrested, both accused of sexually assaulting two women (aged 25 and 21 respectively).

At approximately 10:15 AM on Wednesday morning, Mir and his friend were taken away from the Civil Guard base in Patraix, Valencia, to the court in Llíria for further proceedings. During the transfer, Mir’s friend left first in a dark vehicle with the Civil Guard emblem, followed by another grey car that transported Mir to the court.

Mir’s lawyer arrived at the court around 9:00 AM to prepare his defense. Although he admitted that he had not yet fully understood all the details of the case, he insisted that the interaction between Mir and the involved women was consensual.

Mir’s family also came to the court to support him, including his father, who arrived in a black vehicle and brought some personal items for Mir. Mir had been held in the Civil Guard detention center for two days.

Mir was arrested on Monday in a town near Valencia, charged with sexually assaulting a woman in his residence during the night of Sunday to Monday. At the same time, one of Mir’s friends was also arrested, accused of sexually assaulting another 21-year-old woman during the same period and allegedly beating one of the victims.

On Sunday morning, local police in Bétera and security personnel at the villa received a call from a neighbor reporting screams and arguing, and saw two women who appeared to be in a state of distress near Mir’s villa.

That day, the two women went to the hospital for examinations, whereupon the hospital initiated an emergency response protocol for sexual assault cases. Subsequently, they filed sexual assault charges against Mir and his friend. Based on the description of the incident and the report of the victims’ injuries, the Civil Guard arrested the two suspects on Monday. Next, the judge will interrogate Mir and determine the subsequent legal procedures.
