Flick: I'm Not Considering Olmo's Registration Issue Right Now, Lewandowski's Pressing is Important for Us

On the morning of August 25th, Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-1 in the second round of La Liga, achieving two consecutive wins under Flick’s leadership. Despite facing injury issues and being unable to register newly signed Olmo, the team’s form has remained excellent.

Flick said after the game, “I’ve already told the team that every match is an opportunity for improvement. We will analyze and find areas where we can improve.”

After defeating Athletic Bilbao, coached by Valverde, Flick clearly stated that the team’s philosophy is to strive for victory with all their might, unaffected by any factors.

“Despite injuries and not being able to use Olmo, I always see the positive side. If we cannot change it, we must accept it, no regrets, no excuses.” He explained that the team needs to adapt to these difficulties.

Flick did not discuss much about the issue of Olmo still being unable to be registered. He only mentioned that the player and his team were aware of the club’s predicament at the time of signing: “He already knows what kind of environment he is joining and understands the current situation. I don’t know if we can use him, but I hope so. I don’t want to think about these things; we must focus on the three points like today.”

Pedri was a new face in Flick’s starting lineup against Athletic Bilbao. This young star controlled the game rhythm from the start, partnering with Bernal, proving that he is close to regaining perfect form. Flick said, “Pedri is almost at 100% after recovering from injury. Today, just like in the Valencia game, he always brings balance to us. He protects possession, plays with passion, it’s great to have him on the field.”

Lewandowski has already scored three goals in this season’s La Liga. In the game against Athletic Bilbao, if it weren’t for the post blocking, he could have completed a hat-trick. Flick had nothing but praise for Lewandowski: “I’ve always known him well, and his form is very good. He actively presses opponents together with the team and receives the ball in high positions, which is very helpful for us. Currently, he has scored three goals, which is always good for a striker, and today’s goal helped us secure three points.”
