Mail: To Avoid Clashes Between Liverpool and Manchester United Fans, Kick-Off of the Derby Match Advanced by Half an Hour

Mail: To Avoid Clashes Between Liverpool and Manchester United Fans, Kick-Off of the Derby Match Advanced by Half an HourAccording to confirmation from the Daily Mail, one of the highlight matches of the third round of the Premier League this weekend, the match between Manchester United and Liverpool, known as the “Derby,” will kick-off half an hour earlier than originally scheduled.

The Manchester United vs Liverpool “Derby,” originally scheduled to kick-off at 16:30 local time in England, will now start at 16:00.

Although the official reason for the time adjustment has not been given, media speculation suggests that the primary reason is the tense atmosphere between the fans of both sides, and that changing the time could reduce the likelihood of serious clashes. Local police have also hinted that moving the start time of such a “rivalry” match forward by half an hour to an hour could help decrease the potential for conflicts and riots.

There is precedent for this; last season, the FA Cup quarter-final between the two teams was similarly advanced to 3:30 PM due to similar considerations. In the past, whenever there has been a change in match times, the authorities have occasionally issued official statements clarifying the reasons.
