According to reports from Spanish TV channel La Sexta, FC Barcelona is actively seeking to bring in a top-tier winger to strengthen their offensive line. Among these, AC Milan’s forward Rafael Leão has become one of their primary targets. However, AC Milan’s CEO Ivan Frarni explicitly stated in an interview that Leão will not be joining Barcelona.
In the interview, when asked about the possibility of Leão transferring to Barcelona, Frarni directly replied, “No.” When questioned if Leão would continue to stay at Milan, Frarni responded with equal certainty, “Of course he will.” He further emphasized that the possibility of Leão moving to Barcelona is zero.
According to La Sexta, it is more likely for Barcelona to sign Federico Chiesa compared to Leão. This is because Chiesa’s club, Juventus, is willing to sell the player, and Chiesa himself has shown significant interest in joining Barcelona, even willing to accept a pay cut to facilitate the transfer. Reports suggest that Juventus’ asking price for Chiesa is just 15 million euros.
In contrast, AC Milan has set a transfer fee of 120 million euros for Leão, which clearly exceeds Barcelona’s current financial capacity. According to Marca, Barcelona is currently facing serious financial issues, even encountering difficulties registering new summer signing Daniel Olmo, thus the team’s transfer activities are largely at a standstill. Under such circumstances, it indeed seems unrealistic for Barcelona to sign the high-priced Leão.
