Mourinho: Fenerbahçe's Second-Half Performance Dips, Referee Did a Great Job Today

In the Super Lig Round 4 match that concluded in the early hours of today, Fenerbahçe secured a 3-0 victory over Alanyaspor at home. After the game, Fenerbahçe’s head coach, Mourinho, gave an interview.

Speaking about the win, Mourinho said, “I am full of respect for this victory; we deserved to win. However, I didn’t particularly like how we started the second half. I know it’s not easy to maintain the pressure we had at the beginning of the match throughout the entire game. We experienced a dip in performance during the second half and gave them several opportunities, but once we scored the second goal, the game was effectively over.”

Regarding the team’s tactics, Mourinho said, “I like to devise different tactics against different teams. I watched our opponents play before, and they enjoy having possession of the ball, so we adopted a targeted approach. This tactic put immense pressure on our defense, but that was our plan. In the first half, we didn’t score more goals and also gave our opponents many chances.”

Talking about the officiating in the match, Mourinho said, “Although the referee is young, he handled it brilliantly. He has a great personality and made the right calls; he did not lose control of the game.”
