Arnold said, “The goal of the Australian national team is clearly to automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup by securing one of the top two spots in the 18-team qualifier. This is exactly what I hope for, as we have qualified for three out of the last five World Cups through the qualifiers.”

Notably, Ilaokunda, who currently plays for Bayern Munich, is a hot star in the squad, and on this, Arnold commented, “He feels he’s getting better every day through training with Bayern, and it’s obvious he’s very happy to be here with us, and we’re also very happy to have him join the team because he brings something completely different.”

“The question now is whether I should start him, because obviously, he could play a huge role coming off the bench when the opponent is tired, but he can also start and score early goals for us. So using Ilaokunda poses a dilemma.”
