Chelsea Injury Update: James Set to Return in September, Lavia's Situation Complicated

The British media, Evening Standard, provided an update on Chelsea’s current injury situation. Enzo Fernández’s injury is not serious, and Reece James is expected to return by the end of the month. The situations for Malo Gusto and Lavia are more complicated.

In the third round of the Premier League, Chelsea drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace and have only accumulated four points after three rounds. Additionally, coach Malesca is still troubled by injury issues. Full-back Malo Gusto and midfielder Enzo both suffered injuries during the match against Crystal Palace. British media gave updates on the conditions of the Blues’ injured players.

Of the four injured players, Enzo’s condition is the most optimistic; he suffered a jaw injury and received treatment from physiotherapists. However, this is unlikely to keep him off the pitch for long. In fact, he will report to the Argentina national team to participate in matches against Chile and Colombia.

Reece James had been absent for some time due to a hamstring injury. Although he himself stated in August that the issue was not serious, it appears to be more complicated than he thought. British media believe that he may need a few more weeks to recover and is expected to return to the field in late September.

Full-back Gusto was in considerable pain after being injured during the game against Crystal Palace and was quickly substituted. Post-match, Malesca noted that “it looks like a muscle problem.” Doctors will handle his case, and he may be out for some time.

Lavia was plagued by recurring injuries last season. After transferring from Southampton to Chelsea, he only played for 58 minutes. This midfield player performed well after recovering from his old injury but got injured again before the match against Wolves. Malesca stated that “his hamstring has a bit of an issue, but it’s not serious.” Due to Lavia’s history of injuries, Chelsea will handle his recovery cautiously based on clinical conditions and will not rush his return to the field.
