Official: Luis Suarez to Retire from Uruguay National Team

Luis Suarez officially announced at a press conference that he will be retiring from the Uruguay national team, concluding his 17-year international career.

Suarez said, “The next game will be my last with the Uruguay national team. This is something I have been considering, and it feels like the right time. I will approach this match with the same enthusiasm as when I made my debut in 2007.”

The 37-year-old Suarez currently plays for Inter Miami and has made 142 appearances for Uruguay, scoring 69 goals and providing 39 assists. On Saturday, Uruguay will face Paraguay in the South American World Cup qualifiers.
