AC Milan has suffered from an winless start in the new Serie A season, with Coach Fonseca’s performance failing to meet expectations. According to Italy’s ‘TuttoMercatoWeb’, if Fonseca is dismissed, Pioli is the top candidate to take over.
‘TuttoMercatoWeb’ points out that technically speaking, Pioli’s return is feasible. Since Pioli still has a contract with Milan, the club continues to pay his salary. There were rumors this summer that Pioli would go to Saudi Arabia to coach Al Ittihad Jeddah, but this did not materialize.
The RedBird Capital owner is currently in Milan and after watching the 2-2 draw against Lazio, he too has begun to consider Fonseca’s future.
(Note: ‘TuttoMercatoWeb’ is translated as ‘TuttoMercatoWeb’ maintaining its original Italian name as it’s commonly referred to in English.)
