The official announcement from the French Football Federation states that after a conversation, Henry has ultimately decided to resign from his position as coach of the Olympic team. In the coming days, the French Football Federation will officially initiate the process for appointing a new coach.
Regarding his resignation, Henry said, “I would like to thank the French Football Federation and its President Diarra for giving me this rare opportunity. Being able to help my country win a silver medal at the Olympics is one of the proudest moments of my life. Thank you to everyone who allowed me to experience such a wonderful journey.”
Henry took over as head coach of the French Olympic team last summer. During the Paris Olympics, he led the team to the finals, but was eliminated by Spain’s Olympic team in extra time, ultimately winning a silver medal.
