Takumi Minamino, Takefusa Kubo and other big names return as Japan prepares for closed training session targeting national team

According to Japanese media reports, in the training session held on September 3rd, all remaining 11 overseas players joined the squad, completing the assembly of the 27 players called up by Hajime Moriyasu. After a 15-minute public training session, the Japanese team began a closed training session specifically targeting the national team.

In comparison to the national team’s one-week training camp in late August, the Japanese team only started assembling on September 2nd. On the first day of assembly, only 16 players were present, including 6 out of 7 J-League internationals who participated in outdoor training. The other player, Daiki Takai, along with the overseas players returning on the first day, only engaged in indoor recovery training.

However, starting from the afternoon training session on the 3rd, all other 11 overseas players arrived, including Ritsu Doan, whose return was affected by weather conditions. All appeared at the training ground, including Shogo Taniguchi, Kosuke Teshima, Wataru Endo, Takumi Minamino, Junya Ito, Ryoichi Maeda, Daichi Kamada, Koji Miyoshi, Takefusa Kubo, and Daizen Maeda, all reporting to Hajime Moriyasu.

The first 15 minutes of the Japanese team’s public training session involved just 27 players doing light warm-up activities such as jogging and stretching. Following this, the team conducted a closed training session, with no content open to the public. It is clear that the closed training session will be targeted towards the national team and Bahrain, the two opponents in the first two rounds of the 18-team tournament. Although Japan has a clear advantage, Hajime Moriyasu is not taking any chances.
