Korean Media: From Key Player to Forgotten Man, Hwang Hee-chan Faces His Biggest Premier League Crisis

Korean football star Hwang Hee-chan is currently experiencing a low point in his career, which has left Korean media astonished.

According to Korean media, South Korean international forward Hwang Hee-chan, who plays for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves), is facing a significant challenge in his career. Despite Wolves only managing one draw and four losses in their first five games of the new season, placing them at the bottom of the league table, Hwang’s playing time has significantly decreased.

In the third and fourth rounds of the Premier League, Hwang did not start either game, only coming on as a substitute; in the fifth round against Aston Villa, he did not play at all for the first time this season.

The Korean media outlet Sports Chosun reported: “Hwang Hee-chan has become the least utilized player, and not being included in the squad for the first time is shocking. This is the biggest crisis he has faced since joining the Premier League.”

The media also noted that during the League Cup match against Brighton on the 19th, although Hwang started the game, his performance was described as “extremely poor.” Local media commented: “To be honest, Hwang Hee-chan performed poorly against Brighton. He had almost no presence in the game. Undoubtedly, Hwang is one of Wolves’ worst-performing players this season, showing none of the threat he did last season.”

The article further pointed out: “Such results were unexpected by everyone. Hwang Hee-chan was the main striker for Wolves last season.
