According to Marca, NIKE is set to reach a new sponsorship contract with Barcelona, which will last for 10 years.
Barcelona and NIKE are about to reach the latest sponsorship agreement, with the final contract expected to be finalized in October. The overall content of the agreement has been agreed upon, and now it only lacks some details, specifically how the final bonus amount should be distributed. NIKE’s proposal is to pay Barcelona 140 million euros per season over the next 10 years, while Barcelona has proposed receiving a signing bonus of 150 million euros plus 125 million euros annually.
During earlier negotiations, Barcelona had hoped to terminate its contract with NIKE and switch to Puma or even create its own brand, but Barcelona soon realized that this was not feasible. In the end, Barcelona is still expected to renew its relationship with NIKE.
With the new contract from NIKE, Barcelona is also expected to make up for last season’s financial loss of 91 million euros, thereby complying with La Liga’s 1:1 rule when registering players.
