Ernesto Cherquis Bialo, former editor-in-chief of El Grafico and author of the Maradona biography “I am Diego, the People’s Diego,” discussed the differences between two Argentine stars, Maradona and Messi, in an interview.
The comparison between Maradona and Messi seems never to cease. As a connoisseur of Maradona’s life, Bialo commented on him as follows: “He always had a humanized, individualistic behavior; he was always himself. He loved and hated clearly, recognized his shortcomings and strengths, and acknowledged his mistakes; he was a man of flesh and blood.”
“In contrast, Messi appears more orderly, like a mature company. A company doesn’t experience extreme emotions; they don’t connect with the grassroots, don’t promise anything, and focus on creating better products for the elite.”
“Maradona and Messi possess two distinctly different magics; the former is Humanism, while the latter is full of orderliness (institutional).”
Years ago, Bialo also compared these two legendary figures in a similar manner. When commenting on Messi at that time, he said: “Messi’s behavior is so serious and logical that we almost define him as a character called Messi. Maradona was just himself, while Messi seems to have been cultivated to be Messi, growing, developing, and creating value under constraints.”
