The frequent clashes between Marseille and Lyon are well-known, with Lyon’s team bus even being attacked with rocks by radical fans last season, resulting in then-manager Grosso sustaining facial injuries and the match being postponed. Marseille fans have also caused trouble with other teams; previously, their misconduct in the Europa League led to the closure of part of the stand during a match against Villarreal.

Given these numerous incidents, the French Ministry of the Interior has decided to ban Marseille fans from being near the stadium on September 23rd for the match.
