According to reports from multiple media outlets, former Arsenal goalkeeper Lehmann has recently been embroiled in continuous disputes. In 2022, he was sentenced in a case involving the damage of his neighbor’s garage with a chainsaw. Lehmann paid a fine of 112,000 pounds (135,000 euros). Additionally, last week, Lehmann had his license seized due to suspected drunk driving.
The incident where Lehmann used a chainsaw to damage his neighbor’s garage occurred in the summer of 2022. At the end of last year, Lehmann was given a suspended sentence of ten months for property damage and attempted fraud, along with a fine of 350,000 pounds. However, Lehmann was dissatisfied with the verdict and appealed.
Recently, Lehmann’s lawyer reached an agreement with the prosecutor, reducing the initial fine of 350,000 pounds to 112,000 pounds (135,000 euros). The reason for the successful appeal was that Lehmann had previously reached a reconciliation agreement with his neighbor, for which he paid 50,000 pounds to his neighbor. After the out-of-court settlement, the charges of property damage and attempted fraud against Lehmann were dropped.
Lehmann’s lawyer expressed satisfaction with the final result, “Today’s verdict is a very good outcome. The previous punishment was excessive, and the 70% reduction in the fine clearly demonstrates this.”
However, after resolving this dispute, Lehmann is still entangled in a suspected drunk driving case. Last week, after attending a beer festival, Lehmann was stopped by the police and had his license seized. The investigation is still ongoing.
