In the second round of the Champions League, goals from Havertz and Saka helped Arsenal secure a 2-0 home victory over Paris Saint-Germain. After the game, Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta spoke to the media.
Arteta said, “I am very, very pleased with the team’s performance. We were up against a very strong opponent who are tough to handle when we don’t have possession. In the first half, we had a significant advantage and created numerous opportunities, while the second half presented a different scenario where we faced more challenges than expected. The Champions League has its own demands, but I believe we handled it well.”
“Set-pieces are another weapon in our arsenal. We have excellent takers, and currently, the physical condition of the team is strong, giving us an edge in aerial duels. We’ve put in a lot of work on this aspect, so credit goes to the coaching staff, and also to the players for embracing and understanding how these elements can change the course of a game.”
Regarding Havertz’s performance, Arteta added, “He is simply incredible. His football intelligence, his understanding of space, and his timing are outstanding, and he brings his teammates together. His work ethic is unbelievable, and now he is a real threat inside the box. He is one of our key players at the moment.”
