After taking over Al-Nassr, Pioli attended his first press conference where he stated that the team has the potential to achieve great results. He also emphasized that Al-Nassr must focus on playing a more proactive style of football.
Al-Nassr had a poor start to this season, losing in the Super Cup against Al-Batin and failing to win three out of four matches in the league and AFC Champions League. At the press conference, Pioli said, “I have watched all of Al-Nassr’s games this season. However, we should look forward as the team has the potential to achieve good results.”
Pioli discussed his vision for building the team, emphasizing that a club like Al-Nassr should not always focus on disrupting opponents but should take control of the game themselves: “We will work on the entire team and all the players. We will try to shape our matches according to our own style without focusing on how the opposing teams play.”
Talking about himself, Pioli said, “I am seeking new experiences. I coached in Italy for 25 years and now I want a fresh start. Thank you to Al-Nassr for their grand plans. I received many invitations, but Al-Nassr’s offer was the most satisfying and attractive to me.”
Pioli promised that although he knows the road ahead is full of challenges, he hopes to contribute positively to the team: “Starting a long-term plan within a team is bound to be difficult. But I am here to provide positive contributions to Al-Nassr. The club has outstanding Saudi players and foreign players, and we can definitely build a strong team!”
