Leicester City Manager: Calafiori Should Have Been Sent Off, I Am Proud of the Team's Performance in the Second Half

In the sixth round of the Premier League, Leicester City equalized twice but then conceded two more goals, eventually losing 2-4 away to Arsenal. After the game, Leicester City manager Steve Cooper gave an interview to the media.

Cooper said, “This is indeed a tough result to accept, but I am proud of the team’s performance in the second half. If we weren’t united, we might have collapsed after the first half, but we scored early in the second half and equalized at 2-2, which was really good.”

“You know that when you play against a great team like Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, there will always be a period where you are under pressure, but I think we handled it well. The third goal was a deflection, which somewhat reflects our current luck, but the fourth goal was purely a counterattack by the opposition.”

“Despite another loss, there were many positive aspects to this match, especially the performance in the second half. We must continue to work hard, continue to leverage what we did well, and improve upon it.”

“We are disappointed with the way we conceded in the first half because those were typical Arsenal goals, scored from a cut-back cross. I don’t want to focus on the referee because I am trying to take responsibility for the team’s better performance in the Premier League, but that call was clearly a foul on Vardy, and their left-back Calafiori should have been sent off for his second yellow card. However, there’s a lot we could say about the whole match; everyone saw it clearly today, but I don’t want to talk too much about it today.”
