Spanish Media: From Scoring Goals Last Season to Now – Real Madrid is Anxiously Searching for Bellingham

Jude Bellingham’s second season with Real Madrid seems to have hit a few bumps. After scoring frequently last season, he now faces the challenge of rediscovering his “killer” instinct.

Recalling the 2023/24 season, Bellingham’s performance was impressive. He scored six goals in the first seven games, establishing himself as one of Europe’s top attacking midfielders and even being considered a strong contender for La Liga’s top scorer. His winning goals against Union Berlin, Celta Vigo, and Getafe highlighted his critical role in the team.

However, with the start of the 2024/25 season, Bellingham’s form has declined. Seven games into the new season, he has yet to score, leaving many fans and commentators puzzled. According to Spain’s AS newspaper, Real Madrid is anxiously “searching” for Bellingham.

One of the main reasons for this phenomenon is the change in Bellingham’s tactical role within the team. With the addition of Mbappe and Vinicius’ return from injury, Bellingham’s position and responsibilities have been adjusted. Compared to last season, he ventures less into the opponent’s penalty area and instead focuses more on organizing attacks from outside, creating opportunities for teammates. While this demonstrates Bellingham’s adaptability and flexibility as a team player, it also means that his personal goal tally may be affected.

In addition to tactical adjustments, injuries have also contributed to Bellingham’s dip in form. The 21-year-old midfielder missed four games, which impacted his physical recovery. Bellingham has acknowledged that his body might need some time to adjust.
