Chungbuk Cheongju Club of the K2 League officially announced that the team’s head coach, Choe Yun-Kyeom, has voluntarily offered his resignation, and the club has agreed to this request.
In the past two months, Chungbuk Cheongju has suffered from seven winless rounds in the league, only managing four draws and three losses during this period. Currently, they have accumulated 36 points and are ranked tenth in the league.
Regarding this, Choe Yun-Kyeom stated: “Professional football leaves no choice but to be ruthless. Insufficient budget and facilities are all excuses. As a coach responsible for the players, regardless of the reasons, you must take responsibility for the consequences. Growth and producing results require a lot of time, but this is the reality. The club needs change to develop to a new level, and now is the time. I hope the fans realize the weak position of the club.”
After Choe Yun-Kyeom’s departure, Cheongju coach Kwon Oh-Gyu will serve as the interim head coach of the team. In the next round of the league, the team will visit Bucheon FC as the away team.
