Recently, Paul Merson, serving as a pundit for Sky Sports, wrote in his column about the current predicament of Manchester United and made some sharp comments about the team’s manager, Erik ten Hag. Merson believes that no Manchester United player has successfully improved under ten Hag.
Merson wrote: When I see top coaches like Guardiola, Arteta, and Klopp, they elevate players and make them better. I look at Manchester United, and since ten Hag joined, no player has improved or reached another level. How is this possible? This is the biggest club in the world.
We all lose confidence, it’s hard, but the only thing that can get you out of trouble is hard work. The match last weekend was embarrassing; Tottenham could have beaten United by five or six goals, and Liverpool could have done the same a few weeks ago. They missed many good chances, but it seems not to matter because the results never change.
Manchester United might achieve some good results in certain games because they still have excellent players, but we’ve said this many times before. They are falling further behind – they are now behind Tottenham, far behind.
