Regular Time Unbeaten Run Continues! Manchester City Equalizes the Champions League Unbeaten Record Set by Manchester United

On October 2nd, in the second round of the Champions League, Manchester City secured a 4-0 victory away against Bratislava. This result extended their unbeaten run in regular time in the Champions League to 25 matches, equaling the record set by Manchester United.

The last time Manchester City lost during regular time in a Champions League match was back in the 2021-22 season, in the second leg of the semi-final. They fell to Real Madrid with a score of 1-3 after extra time (1-2 in regular time) and were eliminated, ending their campaign in the semi-finals.

Since then, Manchester City has remained undefeated during regular time in all Champions League matches. The “Sky Blues” won the 2022-23 Champions League title and reached the quarter-finals in the 2023-24 season, drawing both legs against Real Madrid before being knocked out on penalties. In the first two rounds of this season, Manchester City maintained an unbeaten record with one win and one draw.

After this match, Manchester City also equalized the record of 25 unbeaten Champions League matches in regular time set by Manchester United between 2007 and 2009. In the next round of the Champions League, Manchester City will face Sparta Prague at home. Given the weaker opposition, there is a high probability that Manchester City will set a new record for the longest unbeaten streak in the Champions League.
