Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard recently spoke in an interview about Mohamed Salah, stating that he believed Salah was an excellent player even when Salah played for Basel, and that Salah surpasses him.
Mohamed Salah and Eden Hazard were once teammates at Chelsea, but Salah did not stand out during his time there. Salah later moved to Fiorentina and Roma in Italy, where he finally broke through during his time at Roma, catching the eye of Liverpool. Since joining Liverpool, Salah has scored 216 goals in 357 games, helping Liverpool win numerous titles including the Premier League and the Champions League.
Hazard said that even before Salah joined Chelsea, he felt Salah would become a great player, “Before he joined Chelsea, we faced him when he represented Basel, and I thought he was excellent then, which led to Chelsea signing him. They all said ‘Salah is too good, we have to sign him, sign him!’”
Reflecting on Salah’s tumultuous experience in the Premier League, Hazard couldn’t help but express admiration, “You know how football goes, with its ups and downs, but what he has done for Liverpool now is simply amazing.”
When comparing himself to Salah, Hazard directly acknowledged Salah’s superiority: “Yes, up to this point, his performance far exceeds my career.”
