Prior to Manchester City’s EFL Cup match against Watford, City manager Pep Guardiola discussed the injury sustained by Rodri. Guardiola confirmed that Rodri will be out of action for a long period, but whether it is a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee still awaits medical assessment.
Rodri was injured during Manchester City’s Premier League match against Arsenal. When he flew back to Spain, he was photographed walking slowly at the airport. However, both British and Spanish media widely believe that Rodri has suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, which could potentially end his season if surgery is required.
Before the EFL Cup match between Manchester City and Watford, Guardiola spoke about Rodri’s injury, confirming that the Spanish midfielder has a serious injury and will be absent for a considerable time.
However, Guardiola added that the specific nature of Rodri’s injury still needs to be assessed: “We are still waiting for the doctors’ diagnosis to confirm exactly where Rodri is injured. Once we have concrete information, the club or I will make an official statement.”
