According to multiple Italian media reports, Torino is considering signing free agent Mario Balotelli to replace the possibly season-ending injured Zapata.
In the previous Serie A match against Juventus, Zapata was substituted due to injury and was subsequently diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament and damage to both the medial and lateral menisci, expected to keep him out for the rest of the season. In light of this situation, Torino is considering signing Balotelli as an emergency measure.
The 33-year-old Balotelli played for Demir Sport in the Turkish Super Lig last season, making 16 appearances and scoring 7 goals. At the end of the season, his contract expired, leaving him a free agent who has been without a club since then. During this period, there were rumors linking him with moves to J1 League and Brazilian Serie A teams, but none of these potential signings materialized. Now, he stands a chance to return to Serie A after many years.
