Multiple Italian media outlets have confirmed that former Cagliari player Andrea Capone was found dead in a hotel on Sardinia. The 43-year-old former Serie A player stayed overnight at a local hotel after attending a baptism ceremony. Preliminary investigations suggest that Capone died from severe head injuries after an accidental fall.
Between 2000 and 2005, Capone made 131 appearances for Cagliari, scoring 12 goals. When Cagliari was promoted to Serie A in 2005, he wore the club’s number 10 shirt. During his career, Capone also played for Sorrento, Treviso, Vicenza, Grosseto, and Salernitana.
