The Munich city government has announced that, starting from January 7th next year (which marks the one-year anniversary of Beckenbauer’s passing), the location of the Allianz Arena will be officially named Franz Beckenbauer Square No. 5, in recognition of the significant contributions made by the Munich native Beckenbauer to Bayern Munich and German football.
