Succeed Nagelsmann? DFB Official: If Klopp Wants the Job, He Would Be an Outstanding Candidate

Jürgen Klopp achieved great success during his tenure at Liverpool, leading the team to win the Premier League title, the UEFA Champions League, and a series of other championships. This summer, Klopp announced his departure from his role as Liverpool’s head coach and expressed his intention to take a break for a while. However, Klopp remains a highly sought-after figure in the football world. After Gareth Southgate stepped down as England’s national team manager, it was reported that The Football Association (FA) hoped Klopp would take over the reins of the England national team.

In fact, the desire to have Klopp as their manager is not limited to the England national team; the German national team also views Klopp as a “target.” According to an article published by the “Daily Mirror,” if Nagelsmann steps down after the 2026 World Cup, the German Football Association (DFB) considers Klopp as the top choice for the next Germany national team head coach.

Speaking about Klopp, Oliver Bierhoff, a member of the special committee of the DFB, said, “I am not sure what Klopp’s next plans are. But if Nagelsmann decides to return to coaching a club at some point, then when we select a new national team head coach, we cannot overlook Klopp. If Klopp is willing to come, he would undoubtedly be an outstanding candidate.”

It is well known that after announcing his departure from Liverpool, Klopp stated that he would not coach any club or national team in the short term. However, recently, Klopp participated in a series of events organized by Borussia Dortmund. More importantly, Klopp mentioned, “Coaching Borussia Dortmund again is one of my dreams, although I also deeply love Mainz and other clubs I’ve worked with.”
