Ten Hag: I’m Not Considering My Future, We Will See the Results at the End of the Season

Due to Manchester United’s recent poor performance, rumors about the possible departure of head coach Erik ten Hag have resurfaced. However, at the pre-match press conference on October 4th, when facing the upcoming Premier League opponent Aston Villa, Ten Hag chose to remain silent about his future: “I will not consider these issues because they are not what I should focus on right now.”

Ten Hag emphasized the importance of team spirit: “We are a united group, including the club’s owners, management, team members, and staff. To improve our current situation, I have appointed new staff and introduced some young faces, such as Ugarte, which is a key move for us this season to strengthen our midfield. However, he needs time to integrate into the team.”

He also talked about the high expectations for the immediate contributions of new players: “People always hope that newly joined players can shine immediately, but this is not always feasible. Ugarte needs time to adapt to our tactical system, his teammates, and the intensity of the Premier League.”

In addition, Ten Hag mentioned the return of Hoenlund: “I am glad that Hoenlund is back. Although he was unable to play for the first two months, he has now recovered. As his fitness improves further, he will bring positive impacts to the team.”

Ten Hag also admitted that there are still many areas where the team needs improvement: “Of course, we still have many aspects that need to be improved. Only by doing so can the team continue to grow and progress. At the end of the season, we will witness the results together.”

Regarding Menno’s situation, Ten Hag revealed that Menno participated in the open training session on Wednesday and traveled with the team to Portugal, but was not included in the substitute list for the match against Porto. Garnacho and Maguire performed well in the second half of that game and are expected to start in the weekend’s match against Aston Villa.

Ten Hag also provided an update on the team’s injury situation: “Three players encountered problems preparing for this crucial match. Maguire and Garnacho were ultimately included in the match squad, although they only received limited playing time, while Menno did not play due to a higher risk. Now we have to wait and see if he can recover sufficiently to start or at least be a substitute by Sunday.”
