Official: JDG Mid-laner Yg Serves as Emergency Substitute for LNG at the S Finals

League of Legends Esports officially announced that JDG mid-laner YAGAO will represent LNG in the S14 Finals.

The full announcement is as follows:

Riot Games has been informed that LNG No.9 E-Sports Club player SCOUT is under travel restrictions and is temporarily unable to participate in the 2024 World Championship. Given this special situation, Riot Games has approved LNG’s emergency addition of a substitute, with JDG Jingdong E-Sports Club’s YAGAO stepping in to represent LNG in the 2024 World Championship.

We had requested that teams resolve such situations by first using players within their rosters or choosing free agents who did not participate in previous leagues. However, due to visa restrictions and time constraints for players in the Chinese region, the number of candidates able to travel to Europe for the World Championship is very limited. Additionally, the team must reach an agreement with the substitute player, adding another layer of difficulty. Under these circumstances, seeking possible substitutes outside the region is not considered a viable solution.

If SCOUT’s travel restrictions are lifted during the event, he must join the competition, and YAGAO’s status as an emergency substitute will be canceled. LNG must notify the tournament organizers at least 72 hours before SCOUT participates in a match.

The use of an emergency substitute is a case-by-case decision, requiring thorough review and approval by the Riot Games Competition Operations Team to ensure fairness, and it is not the preferred solution for lineup issues.
