The USMEX Champion Cup final saw last season’s MLS champion, Columbus Crew, face off against Liga MX champions, Club America.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw during regular time, with Spanish midfielder Fidalgo scoring first for Club America, followed by Columbus Crew’s defender Amundsen equalizing the score. After a 90-minute draw, the match went straight to a penalty shootout. In the first five rounds, both teams scored four out of five penalties. In the sixth round, it was Amundsen of Columbus Crew who missed his penalty, while Araujo from Club America scored. Ultimately, Club America won the penalty shootout 5-4 against Columbus Crew and lifted the championship trophy.
